It will be a memorable movie for me, but not perfect. The only thing was that plot hole, felt like it just had to be talked about, bad taste in my mouth for an almost great horror movie. Thank you for taking the time to read, knock at the cabin I thought was a very well done and well made movie, with strong cast, and a decent plot. I felt that anyone who wasn't in a horror movie, might just think, "Hey, why don't we just wait around and let them off each other, then we can escape." But they were held against their will by "crazy delusional" people who was spouting about visions and stuff. Why go to the trouble of attacking them, trying to escape, and having to get hurt. They obviously aren't trying to hurt you unless you escaped, they would have done it by now if they had real malice. If andrew and eric really believed this was all a lie and trick for the first half of the movie, why not just let these crazy strangers kill themselves. Why not just wait till they done killing themselves, and then go get help. Even if they were some death cult, they seem to be offing each other, right? Doing the work for them? By then the family must understand the rules of the situation. They have to make a decision on set times, or each one gets sacrificed. These 4 people go to this cabin, trying to save the world, The rules are establish that they can't hurt these people, but they also can't leave the cabin. There flash backs hinting the motive might be homophonic hate. They never explain why it was this family that was chosen to make this decision. Not sure why they picked a teachedoctometro workechief. Even though the real horsemen were called conquest, war, famine and death. There was a reference maybe the 4 strangers were the symbolic to the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. There is no explanation of WHY this is happening, is it the wrath of god? Aliens? Super-Villain? So the viewer is left to their own imagination on what's happening. We are only given just enough information on what is happening and what must be done. Classic shymalanama, I mean that's why we like his horrodrama movies right? The plot itself isn't where I have a problem, it's the reaction to everything else.Īs things are unfolding on the film, the viewer is trying to put the pieces together. The viewer feels like there might be a plot twist. The pace of the movie was decent, we quickly realize that maybe it was a lie, Andrew had some valid points at first.
Telling them about their love ones will die as well and how the world would burn if they didn't choose. Them having to die because Eric and Andrew they refuse to choose. I felt like if there was any torture in this movie, it was having to hear the stories of each stranger and the people they care about. It was almost too heart wrenching, to watch them suffer on film. Andrew refusing to believe everything till it was almost too late. Slowly watching Eric and Wen be convinced that the apocalypse was actually happening. Definitely, helped carry the movie.Īnother character who really helped carry this movie was the family, especially Eric and Wen. He played a very convincing anti-villain. He went from doing a lot B-rated action movies, to now doing awesome movies like this project, that lets him practice his drama chops. Not a lot of Filipino movie actors, so many eastern folks love his stuff. Probably now one of my top shymalanama movies.īravo performances by Batista which I adore as drax and as a WWF wrestler. He did not disappointed this time though, Knock at the Cabin was a strong movie.
But after avatar, I felt like he was selling out making horrible movies from scripts he doesn't respect. Like The sixth sense, unbreakable, or signs. I always enjoyed night, his earlier movies. I felt like after his last movie "OLD" he was starting to come back into rare form.
